DOOM Gets Snubbed, 2 3's, and More: Fanboy Roundup #8

December 24th, 2020: Fanboy Roundup #8 12/24/20 PLACEHOLDER Post work in progress Likely coming in early January or maybe Christmas Day

My Favorite Albums of 2020: Pt. 2 [PLACEHOLDER]

( PLACEHOLDER) 12/21/20 DISCLAIMER: I'm sorry I haven't been posting on the blog at all recently. Sadly to say, I think our first official post in January will mark the indefinite hiatus of the blog. I won't go out with a bang, but I'll go more in detail of what I'm about to describe. Right now, the blog is hard to do because of other, more important RCS work, and my music under the DOOF name (namely my EP dropping on December 30th). I love writing, but what I'm doing now is too frequent, and with any larger spacing between posts I know that I'll lose all motivation and interest to continue to write. I may write some impulse blogs, reviews, and discussion until the blog eventually comes back, which will likely be at least until next summer when I might have more free-time on my hands. Thanks for your co-operation recently with it being so many days since the last post and all. I'm making this placeholder because I will likely complete this essay in early

My Favorite and Least Favorite Albums of 2020: Pt. 1

Image
My Favorite and Least Favorite Albums of 2020 12/17/20 DISCLAIMER: This is going to be in a more Fanboy Roundup-style progression, with the four paragraphs being completely separate. In each, I will go over my revised thoughts on each of my top 3 favorite albums and 1 of my least favorites this year. The overall essay will also be a lot more pronoun-geared, seeing as this is a favorites list instead of a more convincing opinions list. Instead of an introduction, we have this explaining what the hell I'm up to. Also, one quick note, due to a recent shift of plans, I will now have to start focusing a lot more energy on my upcoming EP. This means a consistent blogpost schedule may be put on the back burner for a bit. So, if you don't see a blogpost technically out by the 21st, this is the reason why. Everything I've missed at the end of this year will be eventually made up and dated for their correctly-intended publishing dates. Finally, this might get a second part before the

A Very Smurt Retrospective Pt. 6: Creating a Magnum Opus

A Very Smurt Retrospective Pt. 6: Creating a Magnum Opus 12/13/20 A seed sewed with a fresh idea fallen from a large and beloved tree must create branches of its own to survive in such a harsh climate. It is forced to go without rainwater and take too much water when it must, and continue to survive other spastic conditions and natural disasters. Its buds must face the shoes of the larger population so it too can tower over the monsters it once saw. Before his second era, Very Smurt was this tall, elegant tree that was given water by his fans in its youth so it could grow into the majestic and beautiful thing it had become eight months later. Though, this tree had became hollow overtime, with the termites of repetition invading it and consuming its lifeblood and passion. Without being cut down, it could have fallen in a random direction and caused much more chaos and negative results. Even though it would not have fallen at the time of its demise, its death was inevitable. Unfortunat

RandomCrazyNews #3: October-December 2020 and Our Plans for Next Year

Image
RandomCrazyNews #3 12/9/20 Not much happened in October and November of this year compared to a crazy month like June, but there were a few notable announcements and events. October 9th marked what we consider our YouTube channel's 3-year anniversary, which also brought with it the anniversary of the company as well. We reflected on this nicely in an Instagram post from the day of. To celebrate this, Owen Barb, Andrew Sadecki, and Kya Barb all participated in an interesting live event. This packed with it an award show for every one of our years active, multiple musical acts, and some guest character appearances. The event spanned about an hour long, and can be found on our IGTV on YouTube. We also began our bloopers trilogy for "The Legend of the Diehards", and as of December 2nd, all are released. These were slightly unique takes on the blooper reels, seeing as we teased the next reel's release date at the end and made it a fun little puzzle. It's pretty doubt

Execution: The Second Super Mario 3D All-Stars Discussion

Super Mario 3D All-Stars: The Use of Emulation and Tainting the Reputation of Beloved Games 12/5/20 DISCLAIMER: This is the second of a couple of essays I'm doing about this game and the morality behind it and games like it. When "Super Mario 3D All-Stars" was first announced at a full retail price f 60 dollars, it's completely fair that people would have expected nothing but the best. These three wondrous games have a nearly impossible legacy to fulfill, which leaves so much to be desired in a remaster right from the get-go. However, when people actually discovered what these games were set to be, they were absolutely shocked. This all started on September 12th with the Nintendo of America series it feels like only I watch: "Nintendo Minute with Kit and Krysta". At 57 seconds into the YouTube video, we get our first look at the menu. Naturally, fans probably expected something grand and huge as a true celebration for Mario's big anniversary. Though, we

Miley Cyrus - Plastic Hearts (Review)

Image
Miley Cyrus - Plastic Hearts (Review) 12/1/20 With about one of the spottiest track records in recent pop history, fans and haters alike can never really know what to expect when going into a Miley Cyrus album. Known for playing Hannah Montana in a show with the same title, she was always known to be pretty screwed-up. This has always been a theme, or the main theme, you can count on in Cyrus' music, and generally it's been portrayed by a variety of genres mainly surrounding 2010s pop music. Growing up, her father was a country musician, which gives a lot of influence in her music, and especially shows in parts of her latest album "Plastic Hearts". This new Miley Cyrus album was released on November 27th, spans 12 original tracks, and around 40 minutes. Most of Miley's work has been easily able to categorize under "good" or "bad". However, it's pretty hard to define this album as either because there are so many deciding factors in the eq
